16 years ago, afterwards Makino managed to absorb Planet Tachyon, Jim McGrath went to Earth and warned three persons about Makino's iminent attack. Alongside with Forge Ferrus, Miles Dread and Molly McGrath, they created N-Tek, the best hope for the world. They created many projects to stop Makino and his Ultralinks, between them Morphos (cancelled; he was considered a way too powerful and could even become a greater threat than Makino itself) and Turbo Star, among other unknown projects that weren't specified.
During an undetermined amount of time, probably shortly after Jim went to Earth, N-Tek prapared themselves from Makino's first invasion on Earth. A large amount of Ultralinks were sent, which N-Tek didn't predicted, therefore staying on disadvantage, until they released their secret weapon: Jim and Steel, which defeated the Ultralinks with ease and saved the day.
N-Tek opted to use the Turbo Star. During its test, Miles Dread used a device that he built days before the test, so he would be capable of harnessing T.U.R.B.O. Energy for his own gain. However, things went horribly wrong: besides nearly killing Jim, he deactivated Steel during 16 years and the device got stuck on his chest, needing T.U.R.B.O. Energy in order to survive. Jim was sent to the vacuum of space and was found by Makino and his armada. N-Tek thought that Jim and Dread were dead, so they made a homage to Jim, making a hologram and puting Steel under the hologram. After the accident, Molly resignated herself to take care of her son, Maxwell McGrath, who eventually would become the new Max Steel in the future after bonding with Steel.
When Max and Molly moved to Copper Canyon, Max started to generate a powerful energy known as T.U.R.B.O. Energy and was taken to N-Tek after he overloaded and exploded, destroying a building in the process. On N-Tek, Max discovers the truth about his uncle and there he is linked with Steel, an alien who would help him control his energy.
2 years later
2 years after the Morphos incident, N-Tek was still active after Jim's return. One day, suddenly, a new villain known as Professor Mortum emerged and managed to destroy the Daedelus Platform, capturing every agents in the ship in the process. He later revealed the exact location of the secret bases of N-Tek located on Copper Canyon and convinced the villains to make a deal with him. The villains would find the Connect-Tek and in exchange, Mortum would give N-Tek's secrets.
- Though that N-Tek had a very important role throughout the series, none of the agents appeared in the movie Max Steel: Maximum Morphos, with the exception of Jim, Molly, Max and Steel.
- It is still unknown what the "N" on N-Tek stands for.
