Max Steel Reboot Extroyer-14-

The Turbo Battlers was a toy assortment based on Max Steel. They were similar to spinning tops. They came with a ripcord, a launcher, a base, a ring, and a figure. The pieces are interchangeable, allowing to create a custom Turbo Battler. An arena was sold as well.

There were plans to continue the line with the Ultra Turbo Battlers, which were based on the second season of the series. Although prototypes were made, the toys never hit the shelves.

Description[]

There were two types of Turbo Battlers: Regular and Deluxe. While they are nearly identical, the Deluxe ones have a slightly bigger base and can light-up. The color and design of the Turbo Battlers are based on the character that they portray. Each Turbo Battler has a Power Level of three stats: Strength, Speed and Endurance, which are shown on the back of the toy's packaging.

  • Base: It is where the character is held at. It is shaped as a circle and has translucent plastic wrapped around it.
  • Ring: A piece of translucent plastic connected to a base in which the Turbo Battler is positioned.
  • Figure: A small plastic piece that portrays a character, Turbo Mode, or transformation from the animated series.
  • Ripcord: Alongside with the Launcher, the ripcord allows the Turbo Battler to spin. The color and design of the pieces varies according to the theme of the character. Alien characters, for example, have an Ultralink attached to the tip of the ripcord.
  • Launcher: Alongside with the Ripcord, the Launcher allows the Turbo Battler to spin. It is where the Turbo Battler (with its base, ring and figure connected) is inserted. It has an hexagon pattern and the logo of the series on it.

There is three different ways to play in the arena.[1]

  • In Outlast, the Turbo Battler who spins the longest is the victorious.
  • In Knockout, one of the Turbo Battlers is knocked out from the arena by the opposing fighter.
  • In Eject, the figure of the opposing battler is ejected from its base.

Development[]

  • The toy line was originally called Turbo Fighters. Due to the fact that this designation was widely used in shopping sites, it is possible that this name was used until very late production.
  • Initial prototypes were quite different compared to the final product. The base and ring of the toy were heavily influenced by the character contrary to the final product in which these two pieces are practically the same regardless of the character it was based on. The ring also did not encompass all the figure, and instead were two translucent plastic pieces that sprouted from the base. Additionally, some of the Turbo Fighters didn't portray the character's full body, like Fire Elementor, which featured a bust.
  • A Greek video showcase even earlier prototypes of Max and Dread's Turbo Fighters.[2]
