Driven is the fifteen episode of the first season of Max Steel. This episode was written by Rich Fogel and directed by Logan McPherson & Gino Nichele. It aired on August 31, 2013.
Synopsis[]
When Max buys a car with some secret goods hidden inside, it puts him on a collision course with Extroyer!
Plot[]
In this episode, Vin and Dwayne are being followed by the police because they stole something from a science lab. Vin and Dwayne are chased through the city, and in an attempt to evade the police, hide in a pre-owned car lot, leaving to escape the police. They left the briefcase in the back of the car, under the seat.
The next morning,Maxwell McGrath and Kirby Kowalski approach a man named Klean Kal, the owner of the pre-owned car lot. Max Is there to buy his first car.
In a hideout in Copper Canyon, Extroyer tells Vin and Dwayne that he needs his package by tomorrow, or Vin and Dwayne will meet their “Old friend”, Extroyer Black Tiger.
At the pre-owned car lot, Kirby is helping Max to pick his first car. Max wants a car because homecoming is in a couple of days and Max wants to pick up Sydney “Like it’s a real date”. Max’s driver’s exam is also in a couple of days. Klean Kal tells Max that he doesn’t need a license to own a car, just his permit and a licensed driver.
Vin and Dwayne walked back to the lot, where they left their car, but Dwayne was distracted by a hot dog stand.
Klean Kal presented the cars that he had, they were not well built, yet very expensive. He showed Max about a car that cost six grand, but Max revealed he only had six hundred.
Dwayne dressed his Hot Dog. Vin came and dragged Dwayne away.
At the Pre-Owned Car lot, Kirby saw a truck and was curious about it. He asked Klean Kal about the car. Klean Kal got inside the car and found the car keys. Kal wanted Max to make him an offer for the car. Max was initially skeptical about buying it, but Klean Kal started talking max into it by saying how great it would be for him and a special lady sitting by his side.
Max daydreams of him and Sydney in the truck. Steel is in the front of the car, then he gets hit by some dirt.
After the daydream, Max accepts the offer and will take the car. Klean Kal and Max made a deal on the truck for six hundred dollars. Klean asked Max who the girl was. Then Max told him Sydney Gardner.
Vin and Dwayne arrive at the used car lot, and notice their car is missing. They witnessed Max and Kirby driving away with the car. Dwayne and Vin notice that it wasn't a parking lot, it was a Pre-Owned Car Lot. Vin and Dwayne approach Klean, Klean tells them about the sale, but Vin and Dwayne start intimidating Klean Kal.
In Max's new car, Kirby asked Max why he was driving with the floor mats on the wheel. Max lies and tells Kirby that he likes the feeling. Steel talks to Max about his “Turbo Touch Problem". Kirby hears what Max said, and asks about what he had to tell him. As Max is responding, the car speeds up towards a truck, which was about to crash Max's car, he swerved, and noticed that the floor mats fell off of the wheel. The car started Turbo overloading, Kirby noticed and asked him what it was, Max responded that it was his car being fried. Max starts swerving the car until Steel tells Max to use the hand brake. Max stopped the car in the nick of time, very close to a pedestrian. Kirby makes a comment about test driving the car before Max buys it.
The new car broke down, and Kirby needed to get home, so a public bus came and Kirby apologized to Max about his car. Kirby left, so Max was worried that he would destroy any car he touches, because of the Turbo Touch Problem. Steel told Max that they should call someone else.
At N-Tek, Max and Steel asked Roberto 'Berto' Martinez if he would fix Max's car. Berto told them he would gladly.
Outside of Max's apartment, Vin and Dwayne (Who had a car from the Pre-Owned Car Lot) were waiting for Max to come out of the apartment, so they could take the car back for the package. Vin saw a woman come around the corner, Molly McGrath, who he guessed might be Max's mom. Dwayne came out of the car and he wanted to get her away. She defended herself, much to Dwayne’s surprise. Vin came out to help his partner, but he was also swiftly defeated. They ran away and left Molly McGrath alone.
Vin and Dwayne, scared of Molly, escaped swiftly. Dwayne said that she was more dangerous than the tiger Mr. Winter warned them about. The car was stopped and Extroyer Spider attacked the car in an alley. He caught Vin and Dwayne on his web, and explained to them that his name was Extroyer now. He asked them where the briefcase was. Vin and Dwayne told him that they had it, but a kid took it. Extroyer told them that he didn't want excuses, he wanted what belongs to him, which will make him into ' The True King of the Beasts '. He orders them to bring him what he wants.
At Max's Apartment, Max and Steel came in and greeted Molly. Max notices the scratch on Molly's shirt shoulder, and asks about it. Molly told him it was nothing. Molly asks him how it was going. Max tells her that he bought a car. Molly was surprised (Angrily). Steel leaves, and Max tells his mom that he’s trying to be responsible and that tomorrow, Max will have his driver's exam. Molly only wanted to know if it was safe. Max tells her that Berto is fixing it as they speak. Molly thought it might be unsafe.
At N-Tek, Max and Steel came and Berto presented the car to Max and Steel. Berto tells Max that he has a Turbo Cycle, so he might as well have a Turbo Car, so he installed a Turbo Interface. Steel Ultralinked to the car, the car swaps to turbo mode after Steel Ultralinks to it. Berto tells Max about the features the Turbo Car has. Max sees a button that he presses and the Turbo Car shoots C.Y.T.R.O. Steel tells Max that they shouldn't do that in the driver's exam. The briefcase is still within the car.
At Copper Canyon High School, Vin and Dwayne are outside, waiting for Sydney to come out of the school. They identified Sydney and kidnapped her, and took her to the car. They escaped soon after.
In Copper Canyon, Max and Steel are both in Max's car. Max is trying to call Sydney, but she’s not answering the phone, this worries Max. Steel tells him to concentrate on the driver's exam first and his big date second. Max’s driving instructor Mr. Jones enters the car, prompting Steel to hide. Max started his drivers test. Mr. Jones took notes about how Max was doing. Max's cell phone rings and Max awkwardly picks up his phone and realizes that it is Sydney. Max answers and tells Sydney that he is in the middle of his driver's exam. She tells him that she was kidnapped by two men that said that he (Max) has something they want, the call cuts. Mr. Jones, who was asleep, wakes up, confused about what happened. Steel knocks off Mr. Jones’ glasses so he can’t see. Steel Ultralinks to the car and turns it into the Turbo Car. Steel finds Sydney's coordinates of where she is heading. Max heads that way.
In Vin's and Dwayne's car, Vin takes Sydney's phone away. Sydney tries to take it back from him. Dwayne sees Max Steel, who is in his Turbo Car. Dwayne tries to lose Max Steel, but they aren’t able to maneuver away Mr. Jones falls asleep. Steel tells Max that they shouldn't be close to the news reporters, or that the same thing will happen again like last time Commander Forge Ferrus caught them. The Turbo Car turns into Stealth Mode and keeps following Vin and Dwayne’s car. Dwayne thought they lost Max, so they entered their Secret Hideout. Without Vin and Dwayne noticing, Max also entered.
In the Secret Hideout, Vin forces Sydney to call Max again, but she is defiant, pretending to buy a pizza. Sydney tries to escape from Vin and Dwayne, but she is caught by Dwayne. Max was surprised, but he is brought back to reality and turns into Turbo Base Mode. He came out of the Turbo Car and ordered Vin and Dwayne to let Sydney go, but he was interrupted by Extroyer. Max and Steel were surprised to see Extroyer alive after his time in the pacific. Extroyer throws a trash bin at Max Steel. Extroyer jumps on top of the bin as Extroyer Black Tiger. He tells him it is the last time he will interfere with him, and scratches Max Steel's face.
Extroyer Black Tiger asks Sydney about the car her boyfriend (presumably Max Steel) has because it has something that belongs to him. Max Steel turns into his Turbo Strength Mode and frees himself from under the bin. Max Steel orders Vin and Dwayne to free Sydney, but before he could reach her, Extroyer Black Tiger holds Sydney and tells Max to give him what he wants, or that he will kill Sydney. Steel tells Max that what Extroyer wants is in his car. Max lies to Extroyer that he has it, that he took it from the kid (Max) a while ago. Extroyer tells him to show him the package. Max Steel digs in the car, obviously not knowing where the briefcase is, He lifts the sleeping Mr. Jones and finally finds the package. Extroyer Black Tiger smiles. Steel asks Max if it was wise to give Extroyer the package. Max tells him that they have no choice, because they have Sydney. He hands the briefcase to Extroyer Black Tiger, who turns back into Extroyer. He opens the package and frees Sydney. Vin asks Extroyer what was inside the package. Extroyer opens it, revealing a Package of Animals' DNA Samples. He reveals that they were extracted from the world's rarest and deadliest animals. Dwayne gets angry at Extroyer because they had to steal a “science project”. Extroyer explains to them that with the samples, he will be unstoppable. He demonstrates his powers by transforming into a Black Cobra's DNA Sample. He breaks the glass and Extroys into Extroyer Black Cobra. Max Steel in his Turbo Strength Mode backs off. Max tells Steel that they shouldn’t have given Extroyer the package. Extroyer Black Cobra lunges towards Max Steel.Max Steel hides behind a trash bin. Max steel turns into Turbo Speed Mode to swiftly attack Extroyer. Sydney asks Max Steel how she could help. He tells her to get out of the place. Max puts her in Vin and Dwayne’s car where Steel tells Sydney that he activated a GPS to the nearest Police department. The car leaves. Steel returns to Max. they Ultralink and turn into Turbo Strength, and throw Extroyer Black Cobra to the floor. Max Steel turns into Turbo Flight Mode. After battling Max Steel for a while Extroyer looks at the Polar Bear's DNA Sample, but decides it’s not enough. Max orders Steel to get the car ready. Extroyer looks at the Harpy Eagle's DNA Sample, and the Saber-Tooth Tiger's DNA Sample. Extroyer ends up breaking the glass and Extroying into a Saber-Tooth Tiger. Steel drives the Turbo Car and crashes into Extroyer, who was still Extroying. All the glass bottles with the dna samples fall on him, forcing him to Extroy into all of them, making the Extroyer Mutant, a very deformed and spiky transformation (Having the appearance of a Sewer Monster and also of a Goopaniod), Extroyer falls on the floor, defeated. Max thinks that he and Steel destroyed Extroyer. Steel tells Max to leave, until Mr Jones wakes up. Max Steel leaves and the Police come.
Vin and Dwayne decide to ditch Extroyer once and for all. When the Police arrive at the abandoned building, Extroyer Mutant wakes up.
In Copper Canyon, Max parked his car, back in normal mode, and wakes up Mr. Jones, thinking he had failed the test, much to his surprise though, Mr Jones passes him because they “made it back in one piece”.
Max getshis driver's license and Sydney tells him about Max Steel and a snake monster. Max tells her to tell him everything tomorrow at school. Steel wondered why Max didn’t ask Sydney to go to the homecoming dance, Max tells Steel that Sydney has had enough action for one day.
In Vin's and Dwayne's car, they are very happy to ditch Extroyer once and for all. They drive away to Vegas, just like they wanted since The Thrill of the Hunt.

- Extroyer threatens to harm Vin and Dwayne in his black tiger form, referring to it as their "old friend". He is referencing The Thrill of the Hunt, when Troy locks his henchmen at a room with his pet black tiger.
- While Max is chasing Vin and Dwayne with the Turbo Car, Steel advises him to not attract the media's attention due to what had happened last time, which references Secret Identity Crisis.
- Upon seeing that Extroyer was sttil alive, Steel reminisces of the villain's apparent demise in Extroyer Unleashed.

- The Vendor, from Live by the Sword, makes a cameo as a hot dog vendor.
- Max's driver license reveals that he was born in June 07, 1995.
- The series' official website confirms that Max is 16 years old, meaning that the series takes place roughly on 2011 or 2012.
- Vin and Dwayne finally went to Las Vegas. They commented about this plan in The Thrill of the Hunt.
- Max has a cell phone, but it did not had a problem with his Turbo Touch. It's possible that N-Tek developed a cell phone for him to use so it wouldn't be destroyed by his T.U.R.B.O. energy.
