Better Off Dread is a three-part mini episode released in 2016.

Summary[]

Dread, Toxzon and Extroyer capture Max Steel and the N-Tek team! Will they be able to escape?

Plot[]

While Max and Steel are about to be thrown in toxic waste, Dread recapitulates their situation, showing that N-Tek's team was captured and ensnared by Extroyer and his Turbo Modes were deactivated thanks to the Turbo Mode Inhibitor. Max tells them that they weren't the only ones working together and Berto commands C.Y.T.R.O. to launch the Turbo Sword, which cuts the spider web inhibiting Max. Steel links to the weapon and Toxzon releases a pair of Goopanoids to fight against Max. He damages Toxzon's armor, causing a green toxin to spill out and make him fly around the place. The web starts to decompose itself and N-Tek is about to fall on the toxic waste while Spider Extroyer approaches Max.

Extroyer ensnares Max and proceeds to destroy him. Berto activates C.Y.T.R.O., who uses its jet to burn off the web and release an energy rope to the agents so they don't fall on the toxic liquid. Steel unlinks from the sword and helps Max to free himself. Extroyer uses his animal modes to continously beat Max, until Berto sends the Turbo Lash for them to use. With both Toxzon and Extroyer defeated, the duo go after Dread, who is revealed to be an hologram. He reveals that the dome was going directly to the Sun.

Steel attempts to deactivate the thrusters, though he fails. Max mentions about a "Turbo trick" that Steel showed him once and forms a bow. They carefully calculate the shot and successfully destroy the thrusters, causing the dome to fall back on Earth. Berto uses C.Y.T.R.O. to reduce the impact once it falls on Earth. Once they escape from the dome, they find Jason, who lets go of the Turbo Mode Inhibitor control and Max destroys it. While Toxzon and Extroyer go after Dread, Max claims that he was glad to know that they could handle threats without needing their Turbo Modes.
